Material Scanner: Defensive Publication

I don’t like patents.

Therefore I started to write down any idea which I may want to further explore in the hopes that it could potentially hinder anyone from patenting anything with the same idea in the future. Unfortunately the bar of what is patentable seems to be pretty low, for example adding a linear light source to a standard photometric stereo scanner already qualifies as an innovation worthy of a patent.

This does NOT mean that I hold the rights of any ideas listed here, but rather that noone else (including me) can patent any of it in the future (ideally).

I’m keeping track of all changes to the document in this GitHub repository: https://github.com/nhauber99/PriorArt

Here are the versions of the document at different timestamps, I will keep this updated:

On this site the earliest publication of those documents was on the 5th of February 2024, prior to that everything was available on the public GitHub repository as well.
